Seventy one teams turned
out for the 2007
Eberlins Boats & Motors Customer appreciation event out of
Robert Allen boat ramp. This is an annual event aimed at
recognizing Customers for their ongoing business support.
Thousands of dollars in attendance prizes were again awarded to
the teams during weigh in, which included: sonar units, boat
batteries, built in dual pro charger, Lok R Bar, prop repair
gift certificate, hundreds of dollars in tackle, Champion and
Yamaha apparel, and over 40 gallons of boat oil !

The rapidly rising water
temperature had the fish on an early summer pattern, although
the fish still seem to be scattered. Most teams reported success
on plastics, jigs, and crankbaits, but finding a five fish limit
proved to be a challenge for many teams.
Taking 1st
place in this year’s event was Larry Ward and Greg Zumwalt with
five healthy fish weighing 18.09 lbs. Larry and Greg reported
catching their fish on worms and jigs in the mid lake area on an
all day bite. Larry commented that “the key to our pattern was
to use a real slow presentation around main lake structure. Our
fish were about 6-8’ early in the day, and moved slightly deeper
as the day progressed.” Larry and Greg also had big bass at 5.96
lbs, and were awarded a total of $$
for their first place finish. Their sponsors include Jack Harbor
Marine and Dyna Gro seed in Hannibal Missouri.

1st place and Big Bass winners Larry Ward and Greg
Zumwalt with 18.09 lbs
Taking 2nd
place was the always tough team of Keith Hendrix and Denny
Edwards, with five fish weighing 17.52 lbs. Keith and Denny
focused on the lower lake, throwing big and little june bug
colored brush hogs throughout the day. Some of their fish were
caught by pitching the brush hog to visible lay downs around 4’
deep, others were caught using a Carolina rig near flats. This
team culled through seven keepers on an all day bite, and their
sponsors include HPW lures, Aqua Tech Marine, and Indian Creek
Marina. Denny is from Hannibal and Keith lives in Monroe City.

2nd place winners Keith Hendrix and Denny Edwards
with 17.52 lbs
Finishing in 3rd
place was Mark and Pat Tesson from Troy Missouri.
Mark and Pat culled through twelve keepers to amass a final
weight of 17.09 lbs. Their only bait of choice was a texas
rigged 5” green pumpkin colored Dunns trick worm. Mark stated
that “The fish we caught were in a post spawn stage, and were
headed toward the main lake. We had to find areas where spawning
pockets were near summer structure. We spent a lot of our time
retying our line today due to the type of rock that we were
fishing.” The majority of their fish were in the 5-8’ depth
range, and also required a slow presentation. Mark and Pat are
sponsored by West Perry Boat & Motor and Dunns Sporting Goods.
On a special note, we’d like to wish Mark a speedy recovery this
fall as he undergoes back surgery.
